REGULATION

 

1. P R O G R A M

The Competition articulates on three stages: preliminary round, semi-final and final. For each stage, competitors will have to play the following program:

 

PRELIMINARY ROUND – c.15’

  1. A free choice of one of the following compositions:

Wilhelm Friedemann Bach – Fantasia in a minor (Falck 23)

Or

Wilhelm Friedemann Bach – Fantasia in e minor (Falck 21)

Or

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach – One Rondo from “Sechs Sammlungen von Sonaten, freien Fantasien und Rondos für Kenner und Liebhaber”

  1. A free choice of one of the following compositions:

Franz Joseph Haydn – Fantasia (Capriccio) in C major Hob. XVII/4 (1789)

Or

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Praeludium (Capriccio) in C major KV300

Or

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Fantasia and Fugue in C major KV394

Or

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Fantasia in c minor KV396

Or

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Fantasia in c minor KV475

Or

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Rondo in a minor KV511

 

SEMI-FINAL ROUND – c. 25’

  1. A free choice of:

Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari – one of the three Sonatas Op.10 Trois Sonates pour le Piano-Forte composées et dediées à Madame La Comtesse Pauline de Meternich

Or

Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari – Sonata Op. 1 n. 1 in F major from Trois Sonates pour le Piano-Forte, dediées à Muzio Clementi

Or

Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari – Sonata Op.1 n. 3 in a minor from Trois Sonates pour le Piano-Forte, dediées à Muzio Clementi

  1. A free choice of one of the following variation cycles:

Franz Joseph Haydn – Variations in f minor Hob.XVII/6

Or

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Variations in G major on “Unser dummer Pöbel meint” KV455

Or

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Variations in B-flat major KV500

Or

Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari – Dance Cosaque with twelve Variations op.34

Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari – A Russian Air with twelve Variations op. 29

FINAL ROUND  “EN TRIO” (piano-violin-cello)

(compulsory)

AND

one of these trio

  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Trio KV 502 Bb major (1786)
  • Joseph Haydn –  Trio Hob. XV:24 D major (1795)

The organization provides the Finalists two soloists from Baroque Orchestra of Central Europe (violin and cello).

It is NOT obligatory to play the programs from memory.

 

2. M A S T E R C L A S S

To candidates who are not admitted to the finale will be offered (free for fee) a masterclass by the jury members Temenuschka Vesselinova, Stefania Neonato, and Bart van Oort.

3. S C H E D U L E

The competition will take place from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 december

  • Preliminary round: Wednesday 7 and  Thursday 8 December
  • Semi-final round:  Friday  9 December
  • Rehearsal of finalists “en Trio” Saturday 10 December
  • Final with orchestra: Sunday 11 December
  • Prizes Award Ceremony: Sunday 11 December

All rounds are open to the public.

All rounds will be held in the form of a concert.

The competitors are not entitled to a fee.

The individual schedule will be forwarded to each competitor within 21 November 2016.

5. P R I Z E S

First Prize

  • Money prize of 2.000 EUR.
  • Concerts in some of the musical festivals listed in the Artistic Patronage of the Premio Ferrari (see below).
  • Recommendation to REMA (Réseau Européen de Musique Ancienne).

Second Prize

  • Money prize of 1.000 EUR.
  • Concerts in some of the musical festivals listed in the Artistic Patronage of the Premio Ferrari (see below).

Third Prize

  • Money prize of 500 EUR.
  • Concerts in some of the musical festivals listed in the Artistic Patronage of the Premio Ferrari (see below).

Special Audience Award “Rovereto Città della Pace”

  • 500 EUR for the best competitor selected by the audience at the Final.

Premio Ferrari “WebLive”

  • 500 EUR for the best competitor voted by the Web audience

The First prize is indivisible. The Jury may decide not to assign one or more prizes.

Prizes may be assigned only to participants admitted to the final round of the competition.

 

6. A D M I S S I O N S   R E Q U I R E M E N T S

The competition is open to all musicians born after 7 December 1982.

 

7. A P P L I C A T I O N

Registration  must be made exclusively by filling the online form available on this site within 21 November 2016

Withinthe same date must send to the competition Secretariat one or more files in free text format or Microsoft Word format (.doc) containing the following information:

  • The program choice for all competition stages (preliminary round, semi-final, final).
  • Curriculum vitae (max 10 lines).
  • An artistic photo (jpg format).
  • Scan of the registration fee receipt (in jpg or pdf format).
  • Scan of the identity card or passport (in jpg or pdf format).
  • All the scores (in pdf) of the submitted program (except those of G. G. Ferrari)

All the above-mentioned information and documents must be sent exclusively in electronic format via e-mail at the address: info@accademiadimusicantica.it

 

8. R E G I S T R A T I O N   F E E

9. D E A D L I N E

The deadline for the submission of the application files (see 7.) and for the payment of the registration fee (see 8.) is 21 November 2016.

 

10. S C O R E S

The scores for all music by Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari can be downloaded from the Premio Ferrari’s website

 

11. I N S T R U M E N T S

The following instruments will be at the disposal of the participants for the competition:

  • One 5-octaves (F-F) fortepiano copy of Stein (all rounds)
  • One 5½-octaves (F-C) fortepiano copy of Walter (semi-final and final round only)

The Preliminary Round will be played on the Stein instrument only

The Semifinal and Final Rounds can be played on a free combination of the two instruments, upon choice of the competitors.

13. C O N T R O V E R  S Y

All participants accept the present regulation.

There is no appeal against the decisions of the Jury.

The organisation may decide to make minor changes to the present regulation without prior notice.

The Rovereto Court of Law will be competent for any legal controversy.
